Comprehensive Boat Insurance
Protection For Your Pleasure Boat.

Get a boatload of protection.

Whether your love of the water centers around sailing, fishing, cruising, drifting, or the sheer serenity of a private cove, there's no other policy that protects you quite the way our policy (Harleysville Insurance Companies' Shipmate® Policy) does - both in and out of the water.

The features include one of the broadest ranges of property and liability coverages available in a single policy.

Boat Insurance Savings Chart - Harleysville Shipmate PolicyStem-To-Stern Watercraft Coverage Boat Insurance

Afloat Your boat, including your furnishings, fixtures, motors and all equipment vital to its operation, is insured against almost any peril of the lakes, rivers, seas and bays that could possibly come your way. Wind, fire, lightning, collision with other boats and underwater objects, theft, vandalism, explosion, sinking and capsizing are just a few of the types of loss that are covered-up to the limit you select.

During transport your Shipmate protection goes with you, transferring your collision coverage from the waterways to the highways. Ditto for your boat carrier or trailer. In dry storage-during off-season or at anytime, your boat carries the same quality protection, plus coverage for freezing and ice damage (provided you winterize your boat).

Shore-To-Shore Liability Protection

Higher limits of up to $500,000 Coverage (if a claim or lawsuit should ever surface), Shipmate stands ready to cover your legal liability for: Loss of life or injury to swimmers, water-skiers, other boaters and their passengers (or yours), and most anyone else sharing the waters with you.

Damage to other vessels, piers, wharves or other property you don't own. Your family and guests have the same protection while they are operating your boat...as long as they have your permission.

Medical Payments To Others

$1,000 Coverage - This special "goodwill" coverage pays for less serious injuries that occur in your boat, or while boarding or leaving your boat, regardless of fault. Higher limits of up to $10,000 are available.

Uninsured Boaters

$1,000 Coverage - If you are hurt by a boater who is uninsured, you have your own insurance to pay for bodily injury damages you are legally entitled to recover. Coverage limits of up to $10,000 are available.

Boat Insurance from Stuber Insurance AgencyShipmate Extras

In addition to all its other built-in protection, Shipmate goes beyond the average pleasure boat policy to cover:

  • Cost of compulsory removal if your boat is wrecked or sunk due to a covered loss and the authorities say "move it."

  • Towing and labor costs up to $150 if your craft is damaged or marooned and you need a tug or a shove.

  • Boat accessories - including your detachable marine equipment and items you wear or carry on board-while they are stored away from your boat. (Naturally, these items are covered while they are afloat.)
With Shipmate, you can wander as far away from shore as you'd like and still have coverage...there are no coastal restrictions.

Is Shipmate Boat Insurance for you?

If your pleasure craft is less than 15 model years old, has a maximum attainable speed of 40 knots (45 mph), is not over 30 feet in length, and valued at no more than $75,000, then Shipmate was designed expressly for you. For more information, contact us (908 852-4444).
